JHU SOE STRATEGIC PLAN 2017-2020 Center for Technology in Education (CTE)

VISION

The faculty and staff of the Center for Technology in Education (CTE) envisions future learning environments in which:

•    Technology is a seamless part of the entire fabric of teaching and learning, not just an add-on.

•    Instruction is technology-rich, project-based, and collaborative; challenging all students to meet high academic standards and prepare for the jobs and careers of the information age.

•    Children with disabilities work side-by-side with their peers, progressing in the general education curriculum.

•    Teachers and other education leaders are connected with each other in a vast network of local, state, and national web-based learning communities through which they share information, exchange best practices, and stay abreast of the latest development in the fast-paced world of educational technology.

MISSION

To improve the quality of life of children and youth, particularly those with special needs, through teaching, research and leadership in the uses of technology.

CTE: Optimize learner outcomes through the uses of technology and team-based approaches

Goal 1: Develop and implement evidence-based practices, learning solutions, and tools that promote effective team and individual learning for teachers, other school leaders, care providers, and children and youth

Goal 2: Use CTE’s data-informed decision-making, technical assistance, and coaching processes to revolutionize leadership and instruction at state, district and school levels

Goal 1: Create new and innovative pathways for development of educators, including the child care workforce, through competency-based learning with micro-credentialing and digital badging

Goal 2: Advance collaborative partnerships among CTE faculty and staff with other JHU colleagues and experts across the field.
